RAD Strategies

INSIGHT® is committed to delivering early returns to the enterprise. We follow a methodology often deployed in software development known as Rapid Application Development (RAD).

RAD has two primary advantages: increased speed of development and increased quality.

Following a RAD approach, we are able to implement a usable solution in as little as 60 to 90 days. Some initial compromises may be required, but, significant early advantages both in terms of transparency, compliance and elimination of costs are returned.

The principles behind this approach include:

  • A usable 80% solution that can be produced in 20% of the time that would have been required to introduce the total contract and spend management solution.
  • The initial business requirements can be fully satisfied even if some of its operational requirements are yet to be deployed.
  • The initial implementation acceptability can be assessed against a minimum agreed set of requirements rather than against all requirements.

The problems addressed by this approach are:

  • With conventional methods, there is a long delay before the customer gets to see any results.
  • With conventional methods, development can take so long that the customer's business has fundamentally changed by the time the system is ready for use.
  • With conventional methods, no progress is visible until 100% of the solution is delivered.

Insight uses the RAD approach:

  • To converge early toward an implementation which is both acceptable to the customer and feasible for implementation.
  • To limit a project's exposure to the forces of change.
  • To ensure early adoption across complex organizations and early returns both to users of the business reporting outcomes and to the organization as a whole.
